Covent Garden Deli is a new business growing from old roots...
Covent Garden Deli was created when Ali and Matt became publicans without a pub during lockdown 2020. They have worked together for 10 years across the UK events industry and were running their busy central London pub when the pandemic shut them down. They knew they would have to radically rethink their business model and set themselves a challenge to define what a city centre pub would be like in 2030.
What came out was a thirty page document looking at ways the UK food and drinks industry can evolve to tackle the challenges we all face in regards to sustainability, community and well being.
Rethinking their central London venue Matt and Ali have converted spaces previously used for high density parties into a media suit for live-stream virtual tastings, as well as recording recipes and interviews with producers.
Come and see us at The Old Crown, 33 New Oxford Street, London.
The Old Crown is a unique building located on the corner of Museum Street and New Oxford Street. The pub dates back to 1851 years and has a character all of its own. Two of the three floors are open to the public at all times, while all 3 have a different vibe to each of them. We manage to offer a whimsical escape from the busy streets that surround and come once you come in you get the impression it has offered this for quite some time.
You can find reference to The Old Crown in Hogarth's famous Beer Street & Gin Lane from 1751. The spire of St George's church is just on the opposite side of the street - so it is fair to say we have some heritage when it comes to serving a libation or two.
